Named after one of my greatest influences, my junior high band director Mr. John P. Larson who always knew by heart all 200+ students' names each year at the end of year Red & White band celebration. Like Mr. L, this piece keeps a warm heart, and starts with a sophisticated (sometimes serious) exterior, then adds a little improvisation in the details.
